The part of the world where I come from (India, Asia) is not alien to natural calamities of tremendous proportions. Unfortunately, given the massive population (China and India alone constitute 1/3 of the world population) and relatively poor infrastructure, hundreds of thousands of individuals perish and hundreds of thousands are left suffering.

Four years ago, when an Indian Ocean earthquake struck 11 countries, including India (and Madras the city I come from) it resulted in 225K deaths. But, unfortunately, the world is staring at another huge calamity today in China.

Current estimates indicate between 20K to 50K deaths, as more are being pulled from the rubble as we blog. My good friend Jeremiah blogs about contributing to the earthquake relief funds via Red Cross (go here to donate) and even has a slideshow of images he captured when he was in China the last time. Hopefully, that will inspire.

Even otherwise, I know in the goodness of your heart, you will reach out to heal the worldwide community in a time of utmost need. Thanks for reading.

And, let’s not forget, We are the ones we’ve been waiting for! We can make a difference.

PLEASE DONATE TO THE CHINA EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND HERE
