Summary: The coolest tech event of the Fall | Unmask the Real “Fake Steve Jobs” a.k.a Dan Lyons, Sr.editor at Forbes and author of “Option$”| November 6th @ 6pm @ Computer History Museum (Mountain View) | RSVP here | Hope to see you at the event
So, it’s finally happening… After a month of back-and-forth chats with Fake Steve Jobs, I’m super-excited that we just announced another LinkedIn event (remember Lunch 2.0 @ LinkedIn). This time around, we’re stirring a conversation between two bloggers we all admire in the technology and marketing spheres, Fake Steve Jobs and Guy Kawasaki. Yes, it’s finally happening! And, since we’re expecting a bigger audience this time around its’ going to be held at the “Computer History Museum” (”home to the largest collection of computer artifacts in the world!”) in Mountain View, right next to our LinkedIn HQ.
Dan Lyons (Fake Steve Jobs’ alter ego or is it the other way around?) is on a book tour. He’s already spoken to the folks at Google and Microsoft and this is the first time we’re throwing open the doors to all fans of FSJ and Guy. So, if you’re in the Bay Area you know where to be on November 6 @ 6pm @ the Computer History Museum. We’ve already received roughly a 100 RSVPs in just a day. We have only limited seating, so hurry up and RSVP.
Speaking of Dan’s book “Option$”, it’s received rave reviews from the New York Times to the Entertainment Weekly. Here’s what the book is all about:
“Options” is the outgrowth of a blog that Mr. Lyons, a senior editor at Forbes and a novelist, started in the summer of 2006, at fakesteve.blogspot.com. The book weaves the blog’s greatest hits into a cohesive narrative that enfolds recent events at Apple, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into alleged accounting irregularities (backdated options), and the release of the iPhone. (Source: New York Times)
New York Times’ Liesl Schillinger calls “Mr. Lyons’s portrait hilarious and eerily specific; you get the feeling he planted a spycam in one of Mr. Jobs’s mock turtles” and Entertainment Weekly’s John Simons calls “the narrator of this dead-tree account so textured and real that even his most idle thoughts amuse.”
In his characteristic style, Fake Steve Jobs announces the Nov 6 event on his blog:
Apple employees particularly welcome but wear disguises. We’re pretty sure Katie and Moshe will be monitoring the crowd. Not sure exactly what I’m going to confess. Maybe something about those slashed tires on John Sculley’s Mercedes. Guess you’ll have to come and find out.
Imagine how much fun it’s gonna be when he’s in conversation with THE former Apple Evangelist he’s poked fun at in the past (via Valleywag). Guy adds he’s never interviewed a “fake” before. Let the fireworks begin! Very Nice!
