Would these five topics suffice? April 12, 2007

This week’s been quite hectic, but I’ve religiously absorbed my feed subscriptions over the past couple of days. There’s so much to talk about and so little time. Anyways, here are five posts that are blog-worthy. I’ve also saved a couple of items to discuss in detail shortly.

#5: WSJ Article on corporate blogging

Good friend, Debbie Weil, author of the “Corporate Blogging Book” is quoted in the Wall Street Journal:

Job seekers who blog increase the odds that a potential employer will find information online that the candidate wants to be seen, says Debbie Weil, a corporate blogging consultant in Washington and the author of “The Corporate Blogging Book,” which was published last summer.

“Everybody has an online identity whether they know it or not, and a blog is the single best way to control it,” she says. “You’re going to be Googled. No one hires anyone or buys anything these days without going online first and doing research.”

Exactly! I couldn’t agree more with you, Debbie. Check out my thoughts on the topic, here.

#4: Business Week article on corporate blogging

Mack and Karl discuss the reasons behind companies’ hesitancy to start blogging. Using a Business Week article / McKinsey study as a starting point, this is a great sequel to the above NYT article — also on corporate blogging.

#3: Why do we “word-of-mouth”?

Interesting post by Seth Godin where he tries to re-assemble the rationale behind our motivations to spread the message?

Why DO you think we evangelize?

#2: The Social Media Club Event

The Social Media Club podcast on last week’s event is up and running with commentary by Chris Heuer. It’s a tad long, but would be worth listening to during your morning drive to work.

#1: More Social Media

Check out Intel’s Broadcast and New Media Manager, Ken Kaplan interviewed by my good friend Jennifer Jones of Marketing Voices over at Podtech (via Jeremiah). Too bad, I missed meeting Ken at the Social Media Club event last week (podcast link above).

Have a great Thursday and feel free to submit your favorite posts of the week here.

And, if you’re going to be at Web 2.0 Expo (starts in 3 days) let me know and we can meet up.

Mario! I’ve been enjoying your blog since seeing you at the Social Media event at KNTV. It’s like one-stop shopping. You’re great at connecting people and thanks for the great resources. Just wish I would’ve had the chance to sit at one of your tables. Next time for sure!

Thanks for your kind words, Ken.

I love the one-stop shopping analogy and am glad I’m offering that range :)

I’m sure we’ll meet at future events. Maybe the very next social media club event?

I look forward to more interesting conversations via our blogs.

Yo Mario:
Armano landed an article in BusinessWeek.com that I found great:

then Tom Haskins has a few great posts on content vs. context development, one of which I had to throw in some pocket change:
