516 attain Nirvana (Marketing)! March 23, 2007

This week’s been tremendously exciting, because not only did I awake from a no-blog slumber, but also saw the number of RSS subscribers for this blog reach an all-time high of 516… Now, that I’ve gotten that off my mind, let’s get down to 3 posts worth pondering over the weekend:
1. Flixster snowballs: Yes, both Arrington and I think Flixster rocks! However Arrington adds a caveat:
There have been some complaints about Flixster’s aggressiveness in getting users to invite friends to the service as well. Like all services, they have to be careful about where they draw the line
Personally, I think Flixster makes it easy for me to find and review movies and connect with fellow movie lovers. Worth a try if you’re a movie fanatic.
2. ‘Back to the Future’ of Communities: Mukund Mohan, over at the Future of Communities, has a very inventive-and-funny post on the future of Communities R’Us. The last question in this mock-interview sums it up:
Jane: Who knows, we did not know this in 2007 for example when it was a fun time and everyone walked around like it was the gold rush for online communities. What we do know is it will be a lot more parties, more community news and lot more fun.
Mukund: Thank you for wasting our time
Comment if you think it’s funny.
3. iBelieve: As a new mac user, I’ve gotta say, the Apple macbook is absolutely stunning to use and has no peers when it comes to its photo and music applications. Period. However, the macbook does heat up at times while playing applications running video
That’s the only blemish in an otherwise flawless notebook. For fellow, pc-to-mac switchers here are 11 ways to optimize your mac performance (via Thomas Hawk).
… and one more thing…
I’ve some important news to share with you this coming Monday. Hope to see ya then!

I think I know what the news is;-) Congrats, in advance;-)
Wow 516? I was excited cause I just passed 316! Good job Super Mario!
Thanks, Mack!
Are you sure, your feed picked up the google feedfetcher’s (http://tinyurl.com/2dydlz). My feed numbers changed since wordpress picked that one up.
516 is very nice. We are still in the 400 range.
Mukund,
I thought you just started out recently and you already have 400!!? Way to go…Won’t be soon before you overtake my numbers. And the beauty of RSS is that the subscribers fluctuate depending on the frequency of our posts. It’s a tough world, out here in the blogosphere.
Mario
I already forced most of my friends, mom, dad, uncle to get the feed. In fact for most of them I went to their home, and put them in the feed. I am not sure anyone except my dad reads it.
I realistically think there are about 250+ readers.
Its gone up, down, sideways, etc. I am not sure the number matters to me any more.
Yep, after a while they are merely…numbers. I couldn’t agree more with you, Mukund. For me, the engagement factor is pretty important — the fact that we’re chatting right now, matters more than mere numbers.
Thanks for participating!
Dude, I don’t know how you can use Flixster. It’s got zero usability…I shouldn’t have to hunt and peck to find out how to view a message after following a link from a notification e-mail.
Antoine!
Point noted. That can be annoying, and Joe from Flixster, should probably do something about it.
Personally, I find it a great way to organize/review/archive all the movies I’ve viewed recently and share the same with fellow movie lovers like you, but if the user interface is ambiguous, that’s not good.
